Exhibition No. 4 · Initial Conditions · 12 June — 30 August 2026
STRATA
A gallery for one-of-one generative works. Six programs are hung below. The states they show were computed for this visit alone — reload, and the gallery rehangs.

Walk the rooms ↓Every work in this exhibition is a program — a few hundred lines of deliberate code. The program is the artwork the way a score is the music: fixed, authored, complete. What hangs on these walls is one performance of it, computed by your browser moments ago from a 32-bit seed.
We do not call these images. An image is a record; these are performances. Nothing on this page was loaded from a file — every line, layer and circle you see was drawn after you arrived. Works marked with a red dot have been acquired: their seeds are frozen, and they will look exactly like this forever. The rest belong to no one yet, and change with every visitor.
Fields
Two programs that follow invisible weather. A vector field, fixed by the seed, tells every particle where to wander; the drawing is the residue of obedience. No stroke is placed — each one is grown.
Meander No. 4 · 2026
Seeded flow field, 1,400 particles tracing gradient noise. Deterministic program, HTML canvas.

Interference Study 12 · 2026
Sixty-two ridge lines displaced by gaussian terrain, drawn back to front so each hill occludes the last.

Acquired · private collection, Seoul
This work no longer changes. What you see is what was bought.Strata
The gallery's namesake. Programs that deposit, compress and fault their material in layers — geology run in milliseconds instead of millennia. Depth is time; the seed decides the climate.
Core Sample IV · 2026
Twenty-four to forty strata deposited in sequence, boundaries roughened by noise, cut by at most one fault.
Edition of one · dimensions follow your viewport
State ····-····
State 1 of this visitUS $2,800
Isobar · 2026
Nineteen contour levels traced by marching squares across a seeded scalar field. One level is always drawn in color; the seed decides which.

State 1 of this visitUS $2,600
Lattices
Order first, disorder rationed. A grid is declared, then negotiated with — subdivided, curved, packed — until it forgets it was a grid. The tension between the two is the work.
Weft · 2026
A six-by-six Truchet grid, recursively subdivided to three depths. Every arc meets its neighbour; the path never breaks.

Constrained circle packing on a six-tier radius schedule, largest settlers first. Nothing touches; everything negotiates.

Provenance
Rehanging is part of viewing. Acquisition is the opposite: it stops the work at a single state, forever. The sequence below is the whole contract.
-
01
Reserve a state
Write to us with the title and the seed shown on its label. We freeze that state within the hour and hold it for you for seven days.
-
02
The seed retires
That 32-bit number is removed from the program's public pool. This site will never draw it again — for anyone.
-
03
You receive the work
The seed, the program's full source, and a signed certificate of authorship. You can re-perform the work forever. No one else can.
Acquire
Works in this exhibition are US $2,600–3,400. Tell us the title and the state on your label — the one hanging right now, or any state you arrive at. We answer within one business day.
Write to collect@strata.galleryPayment by wire or card. The certificate ships on paper; the work never has to.
